Problem With The WAP Interface

The site's WAP interface is a handy tool that I use quite frequently. Since the update, however, I am experiencing a problem: When I submit the search for (for example) F-WWOW, the result looks like this:

1 to 0 of 96:
New Search
Previous Page

That's all I am getting. Can anybody please try it and tell me that it's not my Motorola V3 going crazy?

Thanks,
Markus

Hi.
since the update or let's say I haven't used it a long time it doesn't work for me. Wanted to try it out, but the site can't be displayed. Other sites working well. If it's helpful, I'm using a Siemens S65.

Georg.

WAP WML pages are hell to progam. If I make them work on one phone you can be sure they stop working on another. I have tried to fix the problem you describe, please try again and let me know if it works better.

If not, please try to figure out exactly what your phone does not like in the code (can be difficult, I know).

Thanks,
Johan

I use a Nokia 6230 and I now have to scroll down the page and fill all relevant info in before doing the search compared to before? A fairily obvious thing to do that some may overlook?

Brilliant feature Johan, keep em coming.

Johan,

Thanks but still no luck on my Motorola V3. The result is still exactly the same as described in my original post. And as I have no clue about JAVA, I can't tell you what my Motorola dislikes in the code.

Anyway... I now know that it's my phone's fault. -- Well, one should not buy a phone because of its design but because of its performance...  banghead

I'm sorry to hear that Jan, this new system should work on older phones even if the photos may not show as they are jpg.

Hmm, they should be selected by default, you really shouldn't have to touch them. But some phones may think otherwise apparently. Glad it works for you though.

Johan

Sorry to hear that Markus. Is that a new phone or a very old one? If it's a relatively new version it should work but there's probably something in my code that it doesn't like. If you run into any clues let me know.

Thanks,
Johan

Johan,

It DOES work now on my phone!

Sorry for wasting your time, but I just found out that for some reason it only works whenever the URL it is typed directly into the phone's WAP browser. When started from the saved memory entries in the WAP menu, it (mis)behaves as described.

Well, Motorola reportedly will be publishing a revision of the phone's software soon, anyway... (Btw, the V3 is their newest model)

On behalf of my cellphone provider - who is going to get much more money from me every month now because of you - I'd like to thank you for adding a great feature to the site...

Markus.

It works pretty well on my Sony Z500a. I can search and see thumbnails. I can't enlarge the thumbs, however, without an error.

Great improvement, Johan! Now I can get my airliner fix anywhere. Thanks for the effort.

Johan,

One more thing... I have just discovered that when selecting a thumbnail for enlargement (is that what it should do?), my phone generates "500: Internal Server Error".

No big thing for me because I find the pics good/large enough the way they are, but maybe it is of use to you.

Markus.

Sorry my explanation maybe a bit obscure.

The following boxes appear:

Keyword Search:
Search Field:
Sort Order:
Submit:

So it is similar to the web site info when doing a search.
When a photos is highlighted and I press select a large version shows up with all the details below and I need to scroll down to see it all. Hitting the back button takes it back just like the web site version.
Again Johan another great addition to airliners.net.

Cheers,
Colin

I have made some changes to the wml code that will hopefully fix the "500: Internal Server Error" some of you are experiencing when clicking on a photo.

Please try it again and let me know if it works better.

Thanks,
Johan

Hi Johan,

I also have a Nokia 6230 and the pictures look great on the phone, especially when they are enlarged.

I also saved one of the pictures as a wallpaper on my phone, and it is really exciting to see a triple seven all day on mt cellphone screen.

There is one thing I dont know how to use -
If I want for example to look up for example for all "KLM MD-11's" or for a specific a/c in a specific country, I tried it and wrote in the "Keyword search" and then I entered in the "Search field" - "All".
It didnt give me any results and it seems to be that you can only enter one parameter in the seach box?

Please teach me how to do it correctly.

Thanks,

ly334

I tried the a.net WAP service on Virgin Mobile USA (owned by Richard Branson who also has Virgin Atlantic). It is the first day WAP came out for Virgin Mobile USA. The a.net WAPsite is great! the pictures look very good even on my Kyocera K10 Royale (KX433) which has a relatively small screen! Great Job!
