NEW YORK (AP) - A man has sued the maker of the health drink Boost Plus, claiming the vitamin-enriched beverage gave him an erection that would not subside and caused him to be hospitalized.
The lawsuit filed by Christopher Woods of New York said he bought the nutrition beverage made by the pharmaceutical company Novartis AG at a drugstore on June 5, 2004, and drank it.
Woods' court papers say he woke up the next morning "with an erection that would not subside" and sought treatment that day for the condition, called severe priapism.
They say Woods, 29, underwent surgery for implantation of a Winter shunt, which moves blood from one area to another.

You can sue for anything these days, but this wouldn't surprise me. Can he prove that the drink did this, or was it a little arm ma get it on with the misses? If he can prove that it was the drink, he'll win. Btw, Does insurance cover this?

If you're trying to add more protein and calories to your diet, Boost Plus gives you this good nutrition concentrated in an 8–oz serving.
During an illness, you may not have the appetite to eat as many of the healthy foods you normally would eat. Good nutrition is especially important if you're undergoing chemotherapy or radiation therapy, treatment for HIV, or if you have other illnesses which affect your appetite and/or interest in preparing meals. Boost Plus gives you high protein and concentrated calories you need to help you gain weight, or stay at your normal weight.
More of the calories and protein you need.
Boost Plus provides you with 360 calories in an 8-ounce serving to help you gain weight, or maintain your weight. Boost Plus provides 50% more calories than Boost Nutritional Drink in the same 8–ounce serving size. Additionally, Boost Plus contains 14 grams of high–quality protein to help build muscles and skin. It also:
contains as much calcium as an 8–ounce glass of milk, yet is lactose–free*.
contains selenium, which works as an antioxidant with vitamin E to support cells.
has molybdenum, which helps turn iron into hemoglobin for making red blood cells.
is gluten–free.
More of the great taste you want.
Boost Plus is available in three delicious flavors – Vanilla, Chocolate, and Strawberry. And Boost Plus is ready when you are, wherever you are. Just chill, open, and serve.

Quoting Adopim88 (Reply 11): I wonder if the situation was taken advantage of during a time in that morning. Should have looked at the up side of things rather than trying to sue.
Frankly, we don't know if the tried to 'take care' of the problem with certain methods.

Quoting MCOflyer (Reply 12): Totally agree. Suing isn't the best thing to do in situations like these. A simple letter of disappointment could have been better.
It's a "lawsuit happy" time. How can he even be 100% sure that the Boost did it to him? Oh well. I do hope that Mrs. or Ms Wood got some fun out of the deal. (did you catch my play on words in the first response?)

I guess this could be one of those cases somebody is glad for being sued. I wouldn't be surprised if Novartis found a whole new clientele for their drink.

He is probably not telling all here. He'll have a hard (pardon the pun) time proving it was the drink. Was he watching porn at the time? Was he drinking said beverage before engaging in sexual activity?

Quoting ORFflyer (Reply 20): Yea right - if I have an erection that last for four hours - I'm calling everybody I know.......
Actually, it hurts so bad that you'd crawl in bed. You'd be too embarrassed to tell anyone. You'd only go for help when it turns purple and goes numb. By then, it's too late and the doc would have to amputate.
That's what's happened with the guys I've cared for with that condition.
