Computer Help - Screen Jumping

Hey guys, thought I'd post this here to try and get a result.

My problem is that my display is scrolling up and down at speed automatically. It started after I used the PC for the first time after it was idle for a week. It's constantly at it. I've updated Video drivers, changed re-fresh rates...the works.

It only affects panels (Date & Time props. for example) or open windows which have a scroll bar at the side (IE, Control Panel etc. for example). If all information was to fit into one screen and scrolling wasn't needed, it's fine!

Nothing else is wrong with the system, it's just this.

Any information would be much appreciated.

Sys specs:

XP Home
P4 HT 2.8g

Cheers

Is the scroll button on your mouse broken? Mine was at work and it would randomly scroll up or down depending on its mood.

Just a couple of thoughts...

1. Run anti-virus and anti-spyware software to make sure your system hasn't been hijacked by malicious code; also, run a registry cleaner if you've got one.

2. A long shot, but is your PC located anywhere near a powerful maget or power supply? I know this sounds like a strange question, but a long time ago I had a problem with a computer monitor and I finally discovered that my office was next to an elevator shaft. The passing elevator would create a strong magnetic field which would make all sorts of oddball things happen with my PC and monitor.

Ya know...I don't know why on earth I didn't check this earlier but yes...it was indeed the mouse...which I've now replaced.

Thanks for your help, both of you!

Cheers

One of those little things that you think "no, it can't be that...it's gotta be something bigger"  Smile

Glad you got it fixed
