Hi Folks...
I'm looking for any & all information regarding the US Coast Guard serial numbers that they put on their rotary-wing & fixed-wing aircraft. I'm sure you all know what I'm talking about here....those big black numbers, usually 4 digits, that one sees near the nose. I'm particularly looking for what aircraft had the number '1227' and a listing of all the Grumman HU-16s & Sikorsky Pelicans they had in the past. All help & replies very much appreciated. Regards.

If you can find one of these books it may help...So far can't find anything on line...ALthough Bluejacket.com has some interesting stuff.

Thanks for the replies & help, guys. I went to Amazon.com, and bought a 'slightly used' copy of the Pearcy book that 2912n recommended. I also checked out US Coast Guard website. Their 'fact file' is still under construction, but nevertheless informative. Did anyone know that the USCG had operated 91 different HU-16 Albatross? Still looking for which aircraft carried '1227'. Maybe the Pearcy book will tell me. Thanks again, and regards.
