It was reported by the local news in Montreal, that an Air France 747-400 skidded off runway 24R while landing in YUL. The airplane is laying in the grass beside the runway, first report tells us there is no injuries, and that it was flight AF346.

Quoting Airbus340313x (Reply 7): No injuries confirmed, they are evacuating the passengers by PTV right now. The only news links I have right now are in french.
Do they say if the plane skid off the active while taxiing or during the braking roll?

Seems like an environmentally friendly way to land a plane - no wasted fuel, brake linings and so on. Mother Earth is always there to absorb excess momentum. Darn! the French are ahead of us as usual.

PTV = Passenger Transfer Vehicule ..at least before they became the seat back entertainment units they refer to today.. anyways glad it wasn't anything too serious and everyone is ok.
That one and F-GITD are the two 744's that operate AF346 and AF347 to YUL and back every summer. They alternate between flights to HAV and flights to YUL. The upper deck is premium economy seating, compared to business class on other AF 747's.
Crazy operations now in YUL, aircraft are landing and taking off of rwy 10 and 06R. Since taxiway A alongside rwy 06R is being renovated, aircraft landing on 06R have to do a 180 back on the runway to exit.
AF348, the third and last flight by AF of the day, is on final for runway 06R as we speak. Hope he makes it count !!

French bashing at its best.
Congratulations !
I presume that the dirt from that airplane went so high and so far it hit your keyboards. Or were your computers in a sewer before ?
