Hi
For the people out there who know more about NWA, do you know of any plans for revamped WBC when NWA introduces B787 next year? Frankly, with UA and DL upgrading their Business Class products into horizontal lie-flat seats, and making them more at par with other carriers like BA, Virgin, SQ, etc, NW has to upgrade their product as well. Do you know of any rumors or plans to this regard?

Thank you.

I have heard that NW will outfit their new birds nicely. I can't wait to see the 787 in NW's colors.

Here is a gallery of seating options that were on display at MSP for consideration in the 787:

You can also look at the IFE that will be in use on the 787. It is wireless so it won't have the annoying media boxes under the seats.

Another interesting fact is all of the data on the aircraft will be updated wirelessly while parked at the gate.

I believe the wireless got veto'd by the FAA.
Could be mistaken, but I think Boeing stated that some weeks past.

Yes wireless is out. It was not FAA but the fact Boeing could not get clearances for the spectrum from all the regulating bodies in all the countries. Can someone clarify this?

The pics looks great thx. The brown leather looks much nicer than the current blue/grey material. However, they look quite crampy... Hope they will put in more pitch than that... It does not look like fully horizontal either. What gives??

Those are only some of the seats that they've looked at, not necessarily the ones they will select.

Thats to bad that the wireless what vetoed. But in a since its good cause someone could tap into the system and mess with the data. But i guess it could be updated with like a usb port.

Who don't more carriers do what Air Canada have done with their XM planes and put the IFE boxes under the floor? Is it so difficult?

The introduction of the 787 by Northwest could be a real deal changer in international flying.
Red Tail got them early, and will exploit that aircraft to it's fullest. Don't be surprised by new
cities in the USA getting service to Asia. It will be an interesting thing to watch what they do
with these new aircraft!

I am looking forward to it. My wife and I are planning our annual Asia trip for next year, and watching NWA to see where these B787s will be deployed. I am guessing it will be China first to exploit the Olympics rush next year, so it would be great to experience B787, NWA's anticipated new interiors and China++ all at once.

I was thinking about flying again on Malaysia Airlines, but this time using their First Class service using WorldPerks points, since it costs the same for Business or First to Asia, so 120K miles go a long way on first class!!

Does anyone know when they would begin to release the scheduling information if they are to intro into service in August/September?

I hope NW doesn't go with that Y seat. I want the ones that CX has just started using. Recline but don't recline into someone's face. I think it is called a Fixed-back economy seat.

For WBC...they had better go with something that leaves CO, DL, UA, AA and US in the dust. They did it with the current seats. They must do it again with the new ones. Something closer to the new CX would be nice. More personalized space and pretty much the coolest business class in the sky in my opinion. The competition for NW is not just US carriers but JAL, NH, CX, SQ and other asian carriers.
