Jordan Aviation is to launch six weekly flights from Dubai to Aqaba starting June 18, and will be operating 4 weekly flights from Aqaba to Iraq . The airline is considering flights from Aqaba to Egypt, Syria and Lebanon in the near future.

This article is news to me in several ways; I did not know of Jordan Aviation as an important player in Jordan's airscene and I did not think that an open skies policy was being considered in any part of Jordan given its very conservative / protectionnist laws. Here are a few thoughts and questions:

1-This article mentions an "open skies policy" for Aqaba, does any airline take advantage of this policy other than Jordan Aviation? Has Royal Jordanian considered international flights out of Aqaba?

2-Aqaba is Jordan's only seaport, but it is much much smaller than Amman ( roughly 4 hours drive away), are there any chances for significant passenger loads on these flights?
