The word that I've received thus far is that there are new regulations in place regarding maintenance and engineering that will require more a/c to be out of service for a longer period of time. Hence the reason for the cancellation of BA238/9 to/from Boston and has little to do with economic reasons. The other flights I can't comment on. Granted, 30 days is a long time scheduled cancellations are hardly a rare occurance for airlines.

I would, however, like to note that on the webpage the flight numbers for BA238 and 239 should be reversed. BA239 operates LHR-BOS and BA238 is BOS-LHR.

Well I guess it certainly seems as if BA WON'T be getting rid of any of their 744's soon! (as rumoured) They seem to have just enough capacity to service their routes now.

The confidential word I received from a BA sales manager was that they are drastically understaffed at LHR. They laid off too many staff and then experienced to many burnout resignations from those that remained. They simply can't handle the loads.
