I understand the 747 design came out of a failed military contract that went to the Galaxy C5. I know various planes came out of military variants (e.g. from post WW2 designs) but are there other Civil jet age aircraft that came out of failed bids or unawarded contracts?


there is economy class, business class, first class...then Concorde..pure class
