777 Most Comfortable Aircraft

Does any else who rides in the back of a plane find the 777 to be the generally most pleasing of the Boeing line and probably the 757 the worst (long and narrow) ? And generally Airbus planes have it over the Boeing planes and especially the MDs.. with the exception on the 777 which I really find to have great space...

Welcome to A.net, and you don't want to start this conversation.

I dunno boys, we haven't had a really good a vs. b throw down in years. The mods always delete them. Anarchy anyone?

LOL.

Seriously welcome, I dunno where this thread is headed, but should be fun.

Not in my experience. Broad shoulders + EK's 10 across seating does not a happy passenger make

Yes, it's very much dependent on how the individual airline configures the aircraft.

No, this cannot possibly end up in an AvB 'comfort' throwdown...

Loyalties aside, in my experience, the 777 always feels very stable. I prefer the A330 in J as mostly it's 2-2-2. Back when I was young and skinny, I used to like sitting at the back of the 747. I enjoyed the slight rocking motion. The A340 on the other hand feels like it's following a vortex track in slight turbulence. Been a long time since I was in a DC-10 (UTA, early 80s) and from memory, it was a great flight.

Having said all that, it's entirely subjective and I don't really care what aircraft I am in if it's comfortable.

The 747 will always be a symbol of excitement and overseas travel for me and always my preference. Yet, generally speaking I am an Airbus fan.

In Y class I prefer the 767 due to the 2-3-2 seating and only a 1 in 7 chance of winding up in a middle seat, and fewer people climbing over you (or you climbing over them) when they want to leave their seat than on a 777. I also prefer the A330/340 to the 777, again mainly due to the Airbus 2-4-2 layout. I also find the interior noise level on the 777 somewhat higher than on other widebodies, especially when you're sitting near the engines (which is frequently business class).

The last time I travelled on a 777 (in economy), I managed to sleep, which to me, is the sign of a comfortable plane. The design of the interior made it feel more spacious than the average economy cabin, which all adds to the comfort.

... yep me too... but I had 5 seats for myself and I'm so short that I only require 4 :p

To be honest I do not find the triple7 in anyway especially comfortable.

Well IMO it does not matter whether it is 777 or a 340 or a 767 or a 320. It always depends what the airline puts in.

I had very bad 747 flights and I had great 747 flights in Y. Same goes for the A320 etc etc. I cannot say if the 777 is the best so I always choose by the airline not the airliner.  Smile

I found CX 777 in Y more comfortable than the same product in the 747, and also like the 777 with EY and SQ in Y.

As already stated, those cheapskates like EK who cram 10 seats abreast into the bird make the 777 an unpleasant experience.

Much, much more depends on the airline than the aircraft.

This is my sentiment as well. That being said, I do like the 777. Very powerful aircraft. Love the feeling when those huge engines are spooled for take-off.

Fair point, i've flown numerous times on Aer Lingus and Cyprus Airways A330's and i've
never had a bad experience with either airline and i personaly think the A330 is a dream
to fly on, however i am taking my first 777 flights later this month with KLM and AF to
DXB so any personal experiences or hints you would like to share would be great...

Cheers!

I personally prefer the 777's Boeing Signature Interior over the A330/A340 interior. However, the Boeing Signature Interior is now also used on the 767, and was also used on the 744ER. However, nothing beats the new 787 interior.

The interior of the 777 is hands down my favorite, but I like the A330 in terms of the 2-4-2 configuration as it makes the window man like myself much happier as I don't have to work my way over 2 people to get to an aisle

The A330/340 is tough to beat IMHO, and since I've haven't been on a 777 yet, I'll just ....  ziplip

I flew on all the 747's, 767's, 777's, 380, 330's and the 340-200, -300 and the -600 coming up ... just the -500 missing.

Noise:
Personally, I feel that when in premium classes, noise is not that much of an issue. Business Class on a 744 really isn't noise at all. Whereas in the back of the plane, it makes all the difference. Here I came to cherish the 340 very much, while the 777 was pretty loud imo. The best plane I took in Y was definitely the A380 on the upper deck. The noise is barely hearable, you can have normal conversations there!

Comfort:
I like the 2-4-2 layout of the A330 / A340 very much. I love the window seats so on a 330/340 i only have to climb over one person. Same with the A380 upper deck and the 767 but on the 767 I do not like the old cabin layout which looks a bit ... well, old  Smile

In general, the 777's comfort is passable and okay. I prefer the Airbus planes because for me, they feature better seat layouts and are generally calmer than other planes. Especially the A380 sets new standards here!

Singapore Airlines - you're a great way to fly.
