Those were taken from the proud bird. This is a bad time for spotting there though because of high sun. You don't have too many choices. The In-n-Out location is where most go but the approach shots are too underneath which is not good for pro level photos. There are other things you can do like move around and find other little spots in the area. There are some. Avoid the parking garages. Sometimes, though you may look suspicious and people will call. In my opinion, the best shots at the In n Out location are those that use a wider angle and then use ground references like the in n out sort of a journalistic photo like for newspapers. The north side road of LAX would be great for afternoon takeoffs and landings but there are no places to stop. Best thing is to probably ride up and down on a bike and spot real quickly to avoid people calling cops. It is a great shot though. Many of those areas have also been closed down to public like the hills on the west end. You can also rent a helicopter for some money and fly over LAX to get the "Air to Grounds" that most people are doing now. There is a tour heli outfit that is offering these flights now. This is your best bet for summer sun.

Spent almost a whole day near the ocean off the street photographing planes taking off at LAX. No police ever stopped or did anyone else even ask what we were doing.
